Hot Tub & Pool Decks

Specialized construction of weather-resistant decks for hot tubs and pools, featuring safety-compliant designs and premium materials.

Hot tub and pool decks require specialized engineering beyond standard deck construction. A filled hot tub with occupants can weigh over 4,000 pounds—concentrated in a small area. Dream Decks designs and builds deck platforms specifically engineered for these demanding applications throughout the Twin Cities metro.

Our Pool & Spa Decks Process

Dream Decks follows a proven process from initial consultation through project completion, ensuring quality results and clear communication at every step.

Step 1

Site Assessment & Load Analysis

60-90 minutes

Our project manager evaluates your property layout, existing deck (if applicable), and intended hot tub or pool location. We calculate load requirements based on your specific spa model, water volume, and maximum occupancy.

Step 2

Structural Engineering

3-5 business days

We design reinforced framing with larger joists (2x10 or 2x12 minimum), closer spacing (12" on-center or less), and additional support posts directly under the hot tub location. Footings are sized for concentrated point loads.

Step 3

Electrical Coordination

Concurrent with permit

Most hot tubs require 220-volt dedicated circuits. We coordinate conduit placement during construction, plan disconnect switch locations per code, and work with your licensed electrician for final connections.

Step 4

Construction & Installation

1-2 weeks

Our crews install reinforced footings, engineered framing, and water-resistant decking. We create proper drainage slopes, access panels for equipment maintenance, and steps for safe entry and exit.

Step 5

Final Inspection & Handoff

Same day

Building inspector verifies structural compliance. We provide care instructions for your water-resistant decking and coordinate timing with your hot tub delivery and installation.
